Sorry, not Freelander related (Although a media report I read said his Disco 5 was a Freelander)
But this was too good to pass up. :)

EDIT: Just saw another pic and it did look like a Freelander 2. Can anyone confirm this?

I have to say I'm glad the injuries were minor.
I doubt very much that I would be able to walk away from something like that at 97.
I doubt very much that I will be above ground at 97 for that matter!
 
Best thing is from what I have read he got another one next day(wonder if land rover would do that for me:p) and the police stopped him because he didn't have his seat belt on

He's seen beltless in another F2. I think it was one from another estate which was ferried up to him.
 
There comes a time when you are to old to drive yourself and one should rely on ones chafer to get about
 
So what if he's been seen tackling the challenging terrain in an F2, he's a frightfully important chap.
 
My Dad's car started getting mysterious dents when he got into his 80s.
We ended up asking his doctor to get the Motor Vehicle Branch to pull his license. It was very tough on the poor old guy as it really restricted his mobility, but at least he didn't roll his car. We couldn't ask his protection officer to drive him either! :)
Did the same with my Father-in-law a couple of years previously and I hope my daughter will do the same for me one day when the time comes.

Definitely a later year FL2 and definitely not a D5. I seriously doubt a D5 would be turned over quite so easily.

This is the vehicle, suitably adjusted to a more normal view. It's definitely a FL2, probably a limited edition and very high spec.
It has the deep FL2 shaped front,

which is very different from the thin grill and headlights of the D5.

When I heard that HRH had wrecked a Landy I made the assumption that it was the latest.
I forgot the Royal's reputation for being frugal!
It really wouldn't surprise me if a Disco 5 went over. Following them on the street they sure seem tall and narrow.
(Never mind that bloody awful offset number plate must mess up the balance!)
 
Serves me right for making the assumption that HRH was driving the latest and greatest.

It's an acquired taste isn't it. I don't know why they went for the oblong plate, instead of the traditional LR square plate. I think it wouldn't have looked so bad, if the rear was designed to take the square plate.

It just shows how similar the different LR ranges have become. Years ago you could easily tell a RR from a FL from a Disco - any guesses what the new Defender will look like?!
 
My late F.I.L was so bad he crashed into parked cars and once "lost" his car because his Parkinson's & Alzheimer's was so bad he had no idea where he had left it.
Was so very angry when it was taken away from him. He used to be brought back home after falling over running down the 1 in 8 hill towards the main road in his shirt & underpants.
Totally away with the fairies poor old sod.
