I have a rolling chassis with motor and trans that I will need rid of soon. I bought it as a parts car and took the good bits off. I have a V5 but I reciently made it SORN as the tax was coming due. There is also no MOT on the vehicle. My questions is, should I sell it with the V5 or should I sell it as a rolling chassis only. There is no bulkhead schassis plate and the chassis it self is a newer one that has no vin stamp on the OS frame rail. I guess another question is if I dont provide the V5 with the rolling chassis, how do I report that it has been sold off in pieces. Bottom line is I want to make sure I am covered and that the V5 is not recirculated for another vehicle to pass it off as something it isnt.

Thanks
Doug

Send the V5 into the DVLA stating the motor has been scrapped. Sell the leftover bits. Sorted - no fear of the docs being used to ring a motor then.

sell the lot as a whole. The rolling chassis and V5 can easily be built up without anyone having to ring anything. The points system doesn't include the bodywork so viable to restore or rebuild into a legal truck.

It will be ringed within a month if you sell with V5.

Guaranteed - I know of two vehicles that were sold in the same way and have come back to life ringed.

Thank you all for the information, I will sell whats left and turn the V5 back into DVLA. The truck was modified a little anyway so I didnt think it could be rebuilt legaly. The motor mounts were moved forward to allow for the longer Disco (I think) transmission. It has a 200TDi but based off the reg it should have had a 2.5NA like the one i am restoring. I think I saw the cool bumper, winch and rock sliders and got caught up in what could be and didnt do my homework before buying. I think in the long run I would have saved about 2000 quid if I had purchased the parts I liked brand new from a catalog or local specalist. again, thank you all for the advice.

Thanks Doug
