Hi all the way from down under & need to replace the gear shift boot, how do I get the Knob Off?

If it's a Freelander 1 pull it up. It's one of those things where you pull it and need to put a fair bit of effort in, then it suddenly releases quickly so be careful. To change the boot you will probably need to remove the cubby box which allows you to move the plastic around the gear level, to get to the other side to release the boot. To do this you may need to release the screws allowing the heater/blower control panel behind the switches, to come oft.

Ps. How do you change the fuel filter for the same Td4 2004 model & what type of filter?

Not sure. Mines petrol. If you have a look on the main Freelander forum you will find peeps asking the same question + answers.

does it have to be in drive or natural to remove the knob?
