Hi there. I want to remove the rear D pillar trims on my 1989 classic to do some welding and also remove the rear wings for inspection and a repaint.

How?

The rear corner section has two self tapping screws and pop rivets holding it in place, the rear wing is the same set up, just drill the heads off the rivets

Unfortunately, I don't see the rivets. I am talking about the outer - vinyl covered - "D" post trims. I see where they are screwed on in the boot void but cannot see where the outer bits are screwed or riveted on. It looks like they are bolted and the back window has to come out to let u work in there

There are two screws on the rear most edge, and 3 screws on the forward edge. The forward screws are screwed through a plate about an inch wide running vertical up the panel inside the vehicle. I can’t be sure if you have to remove the window, maybe a land rover supplier could verify

There are no rivets holding the panel on only bolts, it is a very simple job.

You do not need to remove any glass at all just the inside trim panels to access the bolts.
