Hi
Can someone tell me how to remove an electric folding door mirror glass on a 2003 TD5 please.
I know how to remove the mirror housing itself from the car but could not see how the glass comes off. I want to remove this so I can take the unit apart and look at the folding (mirror) motor. The motor works but not fully opening.
The folding door mirror is not opening all the way, stops about 10mm short. I wanted to open it up to see if there is anything I can do.

Apologies for such a basic question, but new to the site and only 5 days into owning my first Land Rover.

I know that this is not the answer you are looking for, but you could always do what I did and get sandwiched between two transits on a well known roundabout close to where I live. Highways decided to re-lane it with three lanes. OMG what a F**k up. No damage to the housings, but popped the glass out nicely and on to the road.

I would imagine that the glass will probably slide in one direction to release from it's clips. Wear gloves as the glass may break.

Try a hammer, you might find that works :smash::smash:

Usualy the glass slides to one side as already stated,

Good luck with it and welcome to the forum

First give the void at the rear of the glass a spray of WD40 or similar in the direction of the 'motor' and fold/unfold the mirror at the same time, you may require a helping hand with that.
To remove the glass "the book" states adjust the glass towards the vehicle so there's a gap between the edge of the mirror and the plastic put you fingers in and pull, that's what did once many years ago and the result was the same as if I had used a hammer, so get your self a replacement in advance. :)

When I've fitted the glass in the past I've used the heel of my hand to push into the middle of the glass and and push towards the car. This bend in the middle helps the mirror lugs clear their mountings. You could try this technique in reverse to get yours off maybe?
