Birma-brite requires the etch primer(basically an acid) to provide a key for subsequent coatings. If you run your thumbnail over it in a day or so you will find it will start to flake off the bare metal parts.
 
That looks werserer than my bulkhead an at least you can't see the ****ty bits of the bulkhead. Fink I'll start a fred about how to artex bulkheads.
