Don't forget its pumped in by the gbox oil pump o_O

That’s a very good point. My radiators at home are pumped by the central heating pump - but still get full of air....seriously though - I don’t know how the radiator is built, is it just one long pipe bent through the cooler blades so that what goes in at one end must come out the other?

Usually it is an alternating stack of pipes and fins with a tank capping top and bottom. Liquid flows in one end, goes through the pipes with the fins dissipating the heat and then collected the other end and flowing on.
 
On new radiators for the engine with a manual gearbox(,there universal now ) theirs an oil cooler for Manual gearboxes which is not used on automatics,..Now i dont know if there would be enough cooling for an auto ,But it could be possibly used in conduction with a smaller cooler elsewhere ;):D

The possible problem with that is that it only cools to coolant temperature, 95C in the case of my P38 diesel.
 
I have got to work out how to fill the system with oil again avoiding an air lock now that the rad will be the highest point!

Never going to happen - not only is the oil pumped through the cooler, but the flow reverses on TQ lockup - so any trapped air will soon be flushed out of the way....

The possible problem with that is that it only cools to coolant temperature, 95C in the case of my P38 diesel.

Granted atf does not like temperatures above 94C ......,thermostats open at 82C but the rad should be cooler ,its good enough, for a manual box ,but prob would not cool an auto quick enough so id use a smaller cooler in line in the original place just not sticking out past the bumper....;)

Now the whole point of moving it is so that there is no radiator in the original place - gets too full of mud!
