I put the defender front pipe on mine today and what a difference its made taking cat off. Goes well now and pulls great. Well worth the 20 quid from paddocks

Don't suppose you've got the part no/linky for it by any chance? I'll be removing the cat in the next fortnight hopefully.

I noticed that after removing the cat mine kicks out some black smoke, goes well so can't be anything wrong. I am running 50/50 veg oil mix though. Maybe more as I put 15 litres of oil in other day when red light was on. Never smoked before removing cat, I suspect the cat was blocked up with sut and **** from running veg oil, it was sluggish before removing cat

the cat was designed to make the exhaust hotter to burn off any unburnt fuel in the combustion chambers going through the exhaust pipe. With the cat gone you don't that any more. so there's your smoke unburnt fuel
:D:D:D:D

ya can't half tell I'm running high mixtures of veg oil now. It stinks lol, but does smell nice compared to derv fumes. Also I've removed EGR and tweeked pump :D

I would imagine the best way to get it over 70 is to go into a retirement home and pick one without teeth.

WEll - tonight i decided to clean out the intercooler..

Only i found it's got a near new aluminium one on with samco hoses, no gunk of any kind.. Put it all back together..

Decat pipe turned up today so i'll try and fit that and see if that helps..

any ideas on how long it takes to do it?

thanks

Takes about an hour if the exhaust bolts come undone-soak in plus gas tonight. You wanna jack the body up(not chassis) at the front to give you more clearance to drop old pipe and refit new

Right, have the decat pipe now on, and the wheels balanced/tracked... Doesn't seem to have made much difference at all.. Other than now i get a nice bloom of black smoke everytime i put my foot to the floor.

changed the air filter and checked all pipes - all seem fine.

I did however manage to get the car to 80 yesterday going down a hill, but on the incline the car started to slow up again :-( and back down the 60 before having to change gear and keep the speed up.

I'm just under the impression that the car is what it is, and thats it... oh well..

I'll probably sell it when i'm back from le mans now.

Thanks,

have u checked your actuator arm ?
i know its been mentioned but this came loose on my dads an the symptoms sound the same

Old fred revitalized ;)
