Hi , bonnet catch inside my TD5 has just knackered ,is there a way to get the bonnet up now .When i pulled the lever inside the cable came out of its socket as the cable feels stiff and will not release the bonnet catch.

U will not be able to pull the cable hard enough just barehanded......pinch it with a tool or something and pull harder.....it has a quite strong spring.

get someone to push on bonnet as you pull cable

hi guys,done that ,pulled it with pliers while someone (misses)pressed down on bonnet and it released the catch,now why is it so hard to open, does it need oil or grease or wd40 ,thanks.

U can try that but if no joy it's time for replacement(bonnet locking mechanism / cable)

Use engine oil not WD40 and oil twice a year and it will be ok unless you are wading with water over the bonnet.
My catch was so tight I pulled the T handle off, I purchased a new bonnet cable but only used the inner as a replacement easy job to do 20mins max. That was eight years ago and no probs since.
