Can I have some advice please on a courier question.

After fitting 3.54 to 1 diffs from a Discovery to my 1962 2a with a 200tdi engine I'm happy with the gearing and although I bought a Series overdrive years ago, it's been on a shelf in my garage unused.

I'm going to offer it on Ebay but have no idea how to courier it to a customer.
"Collection only" is going to limit the range of potential customers so can anybody suggest how I arrange a courier and the approximate cost.
I haven't sold anything which weighs so much before or would I be better off leaving courier collection to a buyer?

I do have a strong wooden box into which the overdrive and linkages it will fit.

Thank you

If you stick it on a pallet you can get a price for pallet courier and it's not too bad. Why not say courier collection is fine if they arrange the courier.
Just as a side note will it fit a Series 3 and if so how much do you want for it?

Norrie .

Yes it will fit A S3 but as to value I'm looking into that but as there are so few for sale on Ebay, actually none now.
I'm not trying to turn this into a for sale post but the vehicle the overdrive was removed from was a 48000 mile 1969 S2a 109" and I bought it eight years from a friend and fellow Land Rover enthusiast.
Leave it with me for a few days.

Depending on price I may also be interested. But others have beaten me to it!

I recently sold a Series PTO on e-bay. It went to somewhere 200 miles away. I listed it as "collection only" but put in the description that I would be happy to pack it for courier collection. This means that if a buyer is some way away they ask you to pack it and measure and weigh the box. You give that info to them, they then book and pay for the couirer and e-mail you the lable to print and attach which show the delvery address and payment. In the past month I done this for a PTO + pump and valves and a set of Merceds sills, all went smoothly..

Than you all for your replies.

Book it with My Hermes...drop it at you local parcel shop or the will collect for not much more...upto 10kg is around £6.50.

Just pack it wrap plenty of tape right around the box with loads of stuffing...average 2 days.

just got a complete set of rover p6 seats collected by courier in uk and brought to the Algarve for £150...took 1 phone call and 1 email to give details it was so easy cause thats what they do...
