I am trying to sort out this judder, I have taken off the rear prop as suggested and rotated the input flange to the diff and there is about 1 cm play how much should there be? if this is normal any other suggestions as the judder has gone with the rear prop removed and driving it in 4 wheel drive.

Is there any 'in and out' play at the flange ?

Is there any play at the wheel ends of the shafts to that diff ?

Will you 're there have a good check of the prop and the handbrake and gearbox mounts. I had a horrid shudder that I was convinced was drive train and turned out to be knackered mounts and a slightly sticky handbrake

Had another look underneath as follows:
No play in and out on prop flange, there is a small of play at the nearside wheel.

However the offside wheel turns clockwise freely but is very very stiff counter clockwise?
Could a brake give these symptoms?

Trailing shoe floats at top so rubs slightly in reverse rotation.
Have you checked the propshaft that you removed usually knackered UJ joint gives symtoms you have.
Rear transfer output is there any sign of oil leaking behind handbrake drum?
