thanx for ll the advice, our main oposition would be devon 4x4 or our local stealer so i think around the 35-45 plus vat per hour would be about right, we are also looking to get a mot testing set up for up to class 7, its all just talk at the moment but we are trying to cost up as much as we can now to see if it would be worth while us doing it.

not trying to pee on your fish cakes but ....

I've done this exercise before, unless you find somewhere where people are crying out for a good indi - or if you've got enough capital to bankroll yourself until (hopefully) you starting winning customers from other existing garages you won't last - even if you do manage to last a few years i'll bet the profit (if your lucky) will make you wonder if it's all been worthwhile - there's far easier ways to make money

but good luck anyways

i agree with new2landies
the guy i use has his own garage at the back of his house and charges £15p/h he has no overheads bar his electric bill, he can service a 300tdi disco for example for £70 and make £40 profit , do a few of them a day and you quids in but it finding the work, he started out as a mobile mechanic and made a few quid as he had no outlay bar his van which he used as his main car too, however he soon built up regular customers and now does 5 mornin a week in a local mot station and his afternoons are free for his own jobs, so he is makin on average £500/£600 and is always busy, giving he is a landrover freak too makes life easier when i take my shed to him, but he doesnt just do landies he does all makes, and recoveries when he can be arsed
