Coming up for 10,000 miles and need to book in for a service. Trying to get through to Stratstone to book & must be so busy that they can't answer the phone!

Anyone know how much a service costs at a dealership? Also, want it valeting, again, anyone know how much?

Many thanks!

My local indie charges 325 and 250 for schedule A and B respectively.

your right about the warrenties.

as previous post new manifold fitted, if I serviced it myself no chance

Finally got through to the dealer. Service is at 12,000 miles or a year old whichever comes first and is £399.78 - inclusive of all parts, labour and VAT and the valet is £85.

Sounds steep. I just had a 36000 mile service with cambelt, new pads all round, complete exhaust (- cat) plus a couple of minor things all for £500 a standard 6000 mile service is around £70

They have to pay for the fancy showroom and large backroom staff (whatever they do) somehow, but that is taking the p...

I know its a year or 2 ago but inflation is not high, I bought a new Freelander in 2001 and had its first service in 2002 (12,000 miles) from the then family run Landrover dealer, the cost was around £160 including vat, 2nd year service slightly more but certainly under £200.

Then I bought a Discovery from them by which time they had been bought over by a large chain (and recently bought over by Stratstone), when the Discovery (by this time a 4 year old TD5) was due for a service, I phoned to check the price and was told between £500 & £700:eek:

On checking the Landrover service schedule, the only big difference between the Freelander and the Discovery is replacement of oil in the transfer box and gearbox.

Its just a rip-off and I didn't take them up on their kind offer.

Correct me if this is wrong!

But aren't European warranties still valid if genuine parts are fitted regardless of what garage fitted them. So I was told by an AA service man.
