Somewhere in the region of £600.

26 at the time I took out the policy. No NCB after a silly mistake in a carpark. IT Consultant.

But living in Basra (or Pickering as it is known to others) hasn't helped. The insurance on my 1.8D Escort went up 60% when I moved up here from Scunthorpe (yep, figure that one out). Up to getting my recent policy every one had gone up, regardless of how hard I shopped around. When I got shot of the van I had 3 years NCB but each year it went up by 20% (when I checked to insure one now, it was £800 which is an increase of over £300).

When I got the P38 they wanted £900 for the first year (only counted my 3 years NCB as 1 year because apparently that is how it works with commercial to domestic insurance) and the lowest I could get was £1,300 the year after because I lost my NCB, until calling the well known insurer who advertises on here, which offered me the current £600ish.

Maybe one day I'll get offered sub £200 policies, but I doubt it.

£268 all mods declared - agreed value - 10,000 miles - NO NCB as currently on another vehicle that I use for work but will swap later this year at renewal etc

Adrian Flux say they insure young drivers but they don't when you call them up

We do insure young drivers, however, there are vehicles that sadly make it difficult for us to find a market for.

Being a specialist broker, our schemes can be very specific, especially ones tailored around 4x4 vehicles, modified cars, imports, kit cars etc... Niche insurance so to speak. The requirements to be placed on these schemes, sadly, is difficult for young drivers to meet, ie license length being the biggest issue.

Saying this, we do have other schemes that aren't tailored specifically for certain vehicles that will accept young drivers, but as you may well be aware, they aren't always the cheapest.

Hope this clears things up a bit,

Cheers,

Ed
