The Mk 3 was, by far, better. The Mk4 had an arse like Fatima Whitbread and went round corners like the Titanic.

These are facts verified by me and some bloke in a hat in Wigan.

it's the 1300 engine.

I agree they aren't the best for cornering. Found that one out the hard way (as you may re-call from some thread last Spring with my spitfire upside down)
difference is
Mark 3 = ££££££
Mark 4 = £

Gotta start somewhere, one day i'll own a Jaguar XK120 Roadster in Racing Car Green

We started with Austin 7's (had an Ulster racer, still got a Ruby and an Opal) and now have a Daimler Dart SP250 - lovely car! Took it up the Kop Hill climb a couple of weeks back, great fun :)

yep , a total spanner , can't even sort up a misfire , mind you nor can Landrover main agent

I'm about a .5.Replaced rocker cover gasket yesterday, easy job?No first cut my hand taking it off, then dropped bonnet on my head(don't know how but it hurt),then went for test drive turned on to main road (rush hour)only too see(just as it was dark) spanner fly into the road never too be seen again!Yes it is apoint 5 thought I could scrape a 3 but the landy put me back in my place!!!!

Haynes used to tell you which spanner to use or was that autodata?

Haynes is handy for .............................. **** all really:D

aye creaker.
"easy job?No first cut my hand taking it off, then dropped bonnet on my head(don't know how but it hurt),"
fookin big bonnits too, eh.
I found a wonderful tool, worthy of a 1* spanner,
on old ajustable long mop handle ?
works proper good too,
open bonnit, shove mop handle under now very open bonnit, rest on somethin solid near chassis, twist the self lockin thingy on mop handle, fookin marvlous,
gives enough room for even me to get inside engine bay now rads out, sit on slam panel, reach rockers no probs..
them old discos are huge when your working on them,
if its big enough for me, its big enough for...............(reply with suitable responces I hope) ??...

if 5 spanner jobs are supposed the most difficult, I reckon I must be at a 6 spanner level...... In fact I'm sooo fookin good I manage to get stuff apart that isn't meant to be split apart, and get stuff on things that technically shouldn't be there! Even the Haynes manuals don't cover my level of 'in'competance!!! ;)

I think haynes should have a Roman numerals type system where 5 spanners is actually abreviated to one hammer, then instead of six spanners it would be one hammer + spanner.....ten spanners would of course be an angle grinder!
