TD4 auto - about 400 on average, but usually refill at 1/4 tank. Best I've managed is 420....

Although it does depend on which tyres I have on and which brick I have on my right foot....
 
I get 450 +/- from a tank. 2004 TD4 20 miles to work and 20 miles back every day and town stuff.
Long motorway run at 60mph I get around 500 from tank
 
Hi all,

Just for comparison - I have a 2002 V6 auto. I have been monitoring my fuel consumption and I get around 260 miles per brim fill. This would be from around 75% local roads (up to 40mph) and 25% motorway (65mph) with no passengers, prop shafts etc fitted and driving in a sedentary manner most of the time.

I would guess having a worn VCU would push up the MPG due to drag....? Im certainly finding my TD4 sport especially frugal these days after I changed my VCU
 
I use to get 36mpg. I did all the mods over Christmas time and haven't done long run since then. Off to the Lake District on Saturday so I'm going to stick some tesco and two stroke and see what I get. I'll post the mpg on Sunday - do hope I get more after the mods.

Full tank around 450 mostly doing a 20mile round trip commute daily - although on my Vespa today :)

You'd perhaps get more mpg with Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate and Tesco's 2-stroke. Tesco's diesel will just make it smoke like he** if you accelerate hard.

Either way - it'll be interesting to see what difference the mods give you.

ok so light came on 320 miles showing topped tank up and it took 47 litres to fill it can this be right or is my fuel gauge playing up many thanks dawn

Hi Dawn,

This could well be right. The gauges are all different and you will learn from experience with it. My gauge is obviously different from yours.

I reckon when your light came on you had at the very least 12 litres left. (Don't count on it though and blame me when you run out on a wet night on the motorway in a gale)

Assuming you started with a full tank you're getting over 32 mpg. If I'm right with my idea that the tank really holds 63 litres that would give you a range of 416 miles.

This is much the same as I get city driving.

According to the AutoTrader website the tank capacity is 59 litres, so it is probably possible to get 63 in, allowing for pipework etc.

320 mile from 47 litres, that's just over 10 gallons, so just under 32 mpg, not bad for commuting in a big heavy car, especially in winter as you'll either be running the coolant heater (it burns diesel to heat the engine up quickly) or running an engine that's probably below 'optimum' operating temperature.

Dunno what we are getting from the wife's td4 auto yet, still on the first tank :)
 
hi guys yes thanks for repleys so i am not doing to bad also we are doing alot of stop starting when we are out at night lamping so i guess the landrover is not doing so bad . many thanks dawn no fbh on mine
 
The Lakes trip was VERY interesting. I've got even more respect for my machine - passed so many people stuck between Coniston and Ambleside in the heavy snow. My FL didn't miss a beat!

Anyway, my MPG difference after all the Mods. Using data from 10 fill-ups through Fuelly my average MPG was 36.8. Using just Tesco cheapest and a 5 hour trip back from the Lakes (usually 2 hours) my MPG came in at 36.6.

So, less, but we did lots of idling, was travelling at 30 mph for a considerable distance and a full car of 5, plus dog, and kit.

I'm postive I will get over 40's next time.

The car drives like it did when I bought from new nearly 11 years ago. So I'm a happy man!

I'm happy with my TD4 too - performs better than it ever did.

Money well spent.

I've tried hard to make the thing more efficient and more powerful but most importantly be great fun to drive once more.

I just sloshed 59.97 litres into my 05 TD4 HSE, having done 490 mixed miles from a full tank, equates to about 37mpg. He's a Happy Hector.
 
After reading this post which is very interesting, i have become a little confused, we bought a freelander TD4 gs 51 plate on 110miles on clock yesterday we decided to see what it was like and drove down to Paignton, we stopped in tesco filled up roughly 48 litres, drove 110 miles to paignton, drove about 30 miles while there and 110 miles back before the light come on, so in total about 250 miles on 48 litres mean i have an average of only 22mpg? please correct me if i am wrong, any one else simular?:confused:
