Nope, nope, nope. Never, ever , ever going to tempt fate in that manner. These girls are psychic and mean. The moment you say you're trouble free, the bottom falls out of your world and their engine.

No serious problems & few others either over my 10 years + of ownership, though I've only done 16k in that time.
More importantly mine is a proper RR, not one of those overpriced, over complicated bling machines so popular today ;)

I've had one of my P38's for over 9 years, only let me down once when the plastic BMW water pump let go. It has of course needed other work, the latest job being replacing a rusted brake line. Getting on for 50K covered in that time, so not too bad.o_O Has been very cheap to run.

I'm still trouble free :D
I was trouble free for three and a half years. Then she remembered her heritage and had a major hissy fit. Followed by a medium hissy fit, then another major hissy fit , ad infinitum.
Enjoy your couple of weeks, or months, or maybe even a couple of years, trouble free time, and walk around smugly telling everyone you are trouble free. The day will come when you will pay for it. :) Then you look back at these as the halcyon days. The good news is there will be landyzone around to help ;)

You really do need to try harder because that comment falls flat on it's face. It shows you are just trolling , otherwise your hilarious dig would have been directed at biketeacherdave too.
So troll on , you're only embarrassing yourself. Silly little man, your 'knowledge' is not enough to outweigh your stupidity, time for you to go the naughty step forever.

Not understand English then? You clearly wrote YOU were trouble free for three and a half years, at that point no mention of a car.

Since L322 owner ship now running to 5 1/2yrs never has she left us by the side of the road, I hope she,(the car didn’t hear that)but plenty of love and maintaining in that time( some money too:()
I prefer to count in binary. I.E 1 today and tomorrow starts at 0:).
That way you are never disappointed:rolleyes:.

What never ceases to amaze me is that people pay vast amounts of money, maybe 3 or 4 times the price of a decent spec. car & are surprised when the thing actually completes a trip without developing a problem.
The showroom sales staff must see them coming

I have a different take on it. Most of the vehicles are over 8 years old, which is an old car by any standard, but they are still great for their age, when bought. Again most don't have issues initially, a few unlucky, or naive, purchasers find their veh develops faults almost immediately. Usually just as the 'warranty' has run out.
Mine was almost twelve before she developed ,what I now know to be quite a simple , fixable fault. The garage I gave her to was owned by a conman and from his incompetence, ensued a situation where she was off the road for approx 4 months. That sorted she was fine, just normal bits n bobs, for around 2 yrs until TQ showed signs and she went off for repair. That was a saga as well, simply because two faults happened at the same time and due to symptoms of both, being similar , confusion arose. Again , once the hidden fault was found, it was a simple fix. If like most of the guys on here, I had somewhere to work and could do it myself, the secondary fault would have been found sooner and no saga.
My third biggish problem was again the fault of the mechanic and not the vehicle , as such. I had over 2yrs of flat battery issues because they put the wrong battery on her. Hoping not to tempt fate but battery issues all gone si ce right battery put in.
The fourth issue was also mechanic caused. An incompetent garage, who tore out most of the inside , chasing a fault, for 3 months) they couldn't find. Who then gave her to the main stealer ( without my permission) , who found it as soon as they put her diagnostics.
Which is why finding a reputable, experienced, knowledgeable , indy is priceless, to those who can not do the work themselves.
So for a 17yr old veh I think she does ok. In fact better than ok. Four biggish issues, whch could have been fixed , quicker and more cheaply , if the mechanics had said they didnt know what they were doing, and recommended somewhere that could.
I don't want to jinx it as I am due to head south soon, BUT now she has mechanics that know what they are doing, she is serviced regularly, everything she needs she gets, she has never failed an MoT in my ownership, she needs the normal things here and there but I am more than happy with her reliability.
I know I joke about , posting about 'got in and she started , yaaay ' but that's a joke based on the wrong battery . Or I might post that 'I got in and drove her 200 miles' as if it's a biggie. It's not. Again it's a joke because of the issues caused not by the veh, but by incompetent mechanics.
I don't know about the other regular posters but when I post about my veh not having an issue, it's tongue in cheek , because usually , people come on looking for help with a fault. However, 80% of the time we just get in and drive.
After that great big blurb, I'll summarise it to: I own a 17yr old, high marque vehicle, with lots of electronics that are considered ancient in the field, and some are starting to fail. Fantastic going, because your laptop won't get past 5yrs old, your tablet won't get past 3, your phone usually 18months, your hand held gps 3yrs, and so on. The axles, ball joints, brake pipes ( ok they are contentious , considering where they're placed), suspension are needing fixed. So what , it's an old car , most cars, the same age , need work done. Yes, the parts can be expensive, the work can be time consuming/costly but when I drive to London in a few days, I will not be surprised when she gets there and back. I am not surprised when I get in any day and go somewhere in her, when I pretend I am , that is all it is , pretence, banter , taking the mickey and just a chance to say how great it was to be in her. Others may be serious about it but I'm not and if she breaks down, so what, she's 17 years old!

Gets off my soap box and goes to find a seat beside @gstuart ;)

Sort of agree with you I brought mine 05 plate just over three years ago and have covered about 40,000 miles in it since. At first I was taking it to a local garage and had a constant stream of problems at least two of them were caused by the mechanic not knowing what they were doing also not having the correct diagnostics, I have since started using hardwoods main dealer for service and diagnostics and chi 4x4 landrover specialist for any other issues that pop up and I can say that if the car develops a fault it goes in for repair and normally no issues , but being my car is getting on for 14 years old and has a lot of complicated systems it's not really a surprise . I will say it's a lovely car to drive when its working properly, I have previously owned Mercedes, BMW, Ford Audi jaguar and Mazda the only one that I never had to do anything to other than service was the Mazda. The closest to comfort and drive was the E class Mercedes, the range rover is a lovely car and I have even been thinking of going back to a Mercedes recently but after taking a couple for a test drive came to the simple conclusion nothing beats a range rover for ride comfort you just have to live with the fact it's a high maintenance car

I was thinking about my 'trouble free' cars. I have had Volvos, Mercs, Beemers, a few other lower marques and even a TR7. What I realised was two things, the first being none of them were as electronically loaded as the L322, and the second was I have never kept one as long as the L322. Making the L322 the oldest ( in years , not in manufacture date) vehicle I have ever owned and the most complicated . So it is only to be expected that she brings more problems than any before her.
