Well in terms of paint.....

Nothing has been done

It has had a outrigger replaced and has sat waiting to be in paint. And yes they are a professional bodyshop. Was going to take another 6weeks before they could start which I was just unsure of. I have other jobs to do in it so it is back and I will see what happens next
Not very professional then. Here you can get in and out in any body shop in under 30 days. Unless you are getting the job done by B1tching rides then it is about a year and 100k
 
So now you can make a plan :p That's progress. Unlike my own defender which has been off the road for almost a month now :mad: I have already posted my tale of woe, so I'll spare you a re-run of that.o_O However, I ordered a part from the UK seven days ago. It was posted on the same day that it was ordered, and it's still not here! :mad::mad:

Royal Mail delivery to Ireland not normally more than a couple of days, but for gucks sake! :mad:

Unless you need a part for a Jeep Grand Cherokee still in production , following a rear end collision, in which case getting the part takes 6 weeks..

As mentioned earlier there is another painter not to far from me that has said they will take a look at it so let's see how long it will take ;-)
 
I Would just say, you really need the landy back asap
and you have found another painter who can do it for you
he maybe glad to get rid of it, if he is really busy.
 
This is so, so familiar - several years ago I contracted a local guy, who I'd used before, the re-spray an old open topped vehicle. I made it clear at the time that should he not want or be able to do the job he should say so. His response was 'I've just got a couple jobs to finish first' so I delivered the truck & the paint to him but despite a couple of visits to check progress he'd only just started on the prep. several weeks later & the vehicle was still in the corner of his shop. I then gave him a reasonable time to complete the job & when that expired (still no progress) I took the truck away & never offered any payment for the part prep. he'd done or the storage of the vehicle. Needless to say that was the last time I ever went there.

Did you retrieve the paint too ?
 
I think the problem with many vehicle paint shops are that they primarily tend to be body repair shops, and that being the case, their main work load and incomes tend to be insurance work, with all the pressures which that type of work can place on them.
That said, they should say whether they are able to undertake and complete a job in a timely fashion, not take a job in and leave it to languish in a corner of the workshop in the hope that it eventually disappears under a thick layer of dust.

That was the stupid part about my experience (see previous post) Due to the size of my truck it was taking up about a third of his shop, so surely that alone was an incentive to get on with the job, pocket the cash & clear the space.
