Bit of a fecker that I've only just filled up the tx box with oil after doing the front oil seal. Now ive gotta drain it again for the rear. Must be more vigilant in future.

No need to drain - should only lose a lil bit, then just top up after.
btw - DO NOT USE A BRITPART SEAL!

My tank was a massive pain in the ass to get out AND put back in.
Had to cut all the bolts.

Thanks all. Parts ordered today.

And thank trewey, glad I don't have to completely drain the tx box again.

Hoping to get to work on it on Saturday now. Just broke the wear sensor whilst changing the pads on the missuses BMW, so now that's the priority. Fecking german cars, one ponsy sensor and computer says no.

I did my defender 90 tank. 200 TDI, the tank is under the drivers seat. You need to remove the panel over the tank and remove the sender/fuel pipes. then you'll also need to remove the O/S sill (now is the time to fit the rock sliders) there is a small chassis bracket to the front of the tank. you need to take that out (3 bolts to the main chassis, 2 bolts to the tank) then the 2 bolts at the rear mounting along with removing the filler & breather pipes. The tank will then come out with a "tilt & twist" motion. Putting the new one back in is just a reverse procedure, but use new bolts if you can.

What size bolts do ya reckon, I've got a load of m8. Will they do or will i need a screwfix trip?

The bolts for the small outrigger bracket are 8mm if I remember correctly, but if you need new nuts for the sills, I think they're 6mm. drown them in WD40 before attempting to remove the nuts.
