Depends on the miles travelled really if someone's doing a lot per year the time spent burning gas will surely out way the small amount of time/ miles burning petrol. Lpg round here is 69p per litre and petrol 1.28 per litre which is a big diff. A friend of mine has the td6 and struggles to get much more than 22mph combined. There's not much in it between petrol and diesel is there?
Either your mate has a lead foot or his L322 is not running well.

I'd agree with Andy,
If your doing the miles LPG is on par with the equivalent running costs of diesel. Start-up petrol usage is marginal & on a good run where 17-19 mpg can be achieved then it can be cheaper than running diesel.

Thought 22mpg around town and abit of motorway was about average? Well it's not my car lol but all seems ok with it mechanically anyway
My mate gets around 26mpg around and about and 30mpg on the autoroute with his L322 diesel, I average over 24mpg with my P38 and near to 30mpg on a run. Diesel is cheaper over here so thee is no contest with LPG:D

Ah just realised where you are. Derv here is around 1.36 per litre which is obscene! Lol

Lol I want to see petrol until warmed up, gas true mileage as it isn't like for like and less power unless engine modified to suit and cost of conversion basically unless 30,000 a year and keep it forever, i don't think it pays.

No noticeable loss of power in mine. Switches over after approx 1 mile from cold start so as i said, petrol usage is minimal. I do around 20k miles a year so LPG has saved me much much more than the added cost of buying a P38 with the conversion already done.
Plenty of bad conversions out there though, i guess you have experienced that.

I put in £20 of Petrol a month for cold starting....

Yes LPG is less efficient than petrol as it has a lower calorific value (Energy expended when burnt) by about 12-15%...so you actually inject more LPG than you would petrol to ensure you don't lose performance...

It is about 54% of the price of Petrol, less the 12-15% efficiency loss, so I would estimate it at a 40% saving over straight petrol....

i have a good friend/customer who owns his own gas bottle pressure testing company don't know what his current forecourt lpg price is to the public but he charges me 58p per ltr he just calls it mates rates & its good with me:D
