Hi all, i'm just wondering, and have been since I got the landy, how far over/up a bank can you take a Defender 90 before it topples onto it's side. I have done it a few times where it feels as if it could topple at any time. Or am I asking a stupid question?

Cheers Terra Dog

P.S any pics would be great. :D

There you go, answer to my stupid question, only it's difficult to judge when your in it actually doin it. LOL

the banks of motorway used to be at or less than 45 degrees because RR classics could drive along them quite safely kitted up in police spec with blue HD suspension. That all went because of lovely H and S!

From february, near Wales ... ;)

Shoulda googled it I spose, but hey it's there for all to see!

Absolute load of ****e. That might be the maximum recommended angle on a smooth slope in a brand new 90. But bears no resemblence to the reality of real life driving there are too many variables to take in to account. What happens if yu dip ya wheel into a hidden rut or dip in the ground? I'd estimate that me 90 got to about 50 deg before it started to go over. and when it did go it didn't roll. it just seemed to slowly dip until it finally laid down and went to sleep

Another Urban Myth. The angle of any slope or embankment is limited by the soils cohesive quality and it's shear strength Which will vary greatly depending on local soil conditions.

I see what you mean, I don't wanna experience a roll over so will just carry on playin safe.

My advice is avoid sideslopes whenever yu can and if it's got grass on it forget anything over 20degreees. unless you have no other choice.

Don`t mind

That is a little bit like the morning alarm: actual time 06:00 feels like 03:27. :p

on 40° you sh**t your pants if it happens and you are unaware!

join you local land rover trials club you will push your car furthur and find out. as said too many variables but its alot ask any of the old trial guys. I have seen 90's at silly degrees after driving across a hill and the front wheel falling into a rabbit hole. It stayed up but the driver shat his pants being on the low side plus the git got a clear.

Best bit about this thread is "near Wales", Irish sea or England?

LOL, we'd started at Strata Florida and were going to Church Stretton ... so was probably just over the English border ... ;)

H&S=health n safety, boo hiss.Fun police.
Ive been over enough to put me arm out n touch the ground (parked, too dangerous other wise, fun police wouldnt have it). That sed i hat side slopes, if ya need to go up or down a hil then go straight not along it.
