aye. forget the winch, unless you get a real proper hydraulic one.
get a hi lift jack and maybe a tirfor hand winch. much cheaper and far more reliable.
 
I went to the Lake District in my 90 but had to come home 'cos me mother was taken ill, and I kept getting nose bleeds 'cos I'd left Yarksheer.
 
sound like a cool trip would'nt mind coming along myself, enjoy yourself any way and take strong pain killers for your back as i did a trip around the british isles for charity some years back when i were in the RAF you takes a pounding on your tailbone and kidneys i found, unless you fit range rover seats which is what i have done to my series III big difference to the ride. all the best for your trip mate.
 
probably your only bet when you're stuck in the desert though, worth hiring, after all it could save you life!! not that i'm having a go at you mad hat
 
haha well tyres i ain't much good with just now but erm i know LRO did a feature on tyres a month or two back so i'll have a butchers but obviously this lot will be able to help more:D:D:D
