just got a 97 disco es td but how do i know if its a 200 tdi or a 300tdi ?

1997 so will be a Tdi 300

thanks to you both ,300 has serpentine belts 200 has v belt so now i know ps did use search

There's much easier ways to tell...one of the obvious ones is the lights in the rear bumper on the 300TDI

That don't necessarily tell you what the engine is though does it? Engine could have been changed. Bumper could have been changed. You'd think people would have done just a teensy weensy bit of homework before buying wouldn't you?

homework its a fockind disco ,i got rid of a escort for it which one would you have.but as you say i know the body etc is 300,but has engine been changed ?

Post a piccie of it here and somebdy'll tell you. Pretty unlikely that anyone would replace a 300 wih a 200 but stranger things have happened
