hi chaps, i bought my rangey used but im trying to work out if its chipped or not, its a 2.5 dse manual, seems fairly quick to me in relation to how slow everyone says they are, it doesn't have any visible boxes fitted etc whats a good way to tell?
thanks

if it has been chipped (in the ecu) you may not be able to tell without opening it up (not wise)mine has superchip fitted but it also has a sticker on it to say it has been modified ,other than having a look to see if your ecu has been opened up (damage around the bent over parts) i wouldnt worry about it if you can get 0 to 60 in less than 16 secs it is almost definatly chipped other than that just enjoy the ride

On my p38, (looking from the front of the car), take off the battery cover and you have a wide plastic box (black) behind the battery > If I look inside this box (2 screws to remove the lid), there is a super-chip module wired into the other equipment in this box - I was showed this when I bought the car & was told it was the 'chip' to improve the speed of the car.
Also, if your occasionally overtaken by bicycles on the open road, you probably don't have one fitted.

dont listen to the cynics, my dse aint chipped and ok its no rocket ship but it also aint slow and gutless ike everyone says it is like ian says if your happy with it then just enjoy the ride. oh and try not to engage in any drag races and in return the old girl will give you 30+ mpg thats double wot any petrol is gonna get ya
