You can also cut a lemon in half, and wipe each blade with the exposed fruit... The acid does the same as vinegar

Not much use in a gin and tonic after though...

Tonic best used as a drain cleaner.

The differnece between Tonic when cold, i.e. at least with ice in, and not is chalk and cheese.
I love G&T but won't touch it if the Tonic is at room temperature.
Plus the lemon really does make a difference, best squeezed if poss.

Not bothered to try again, it was worse than coffee or grapefruit.

All of these, plus bitter beer....acquired tastes.
Some peeps don't drink red wine for the same reason.
When I was a barman I sold more gin in the, admittedly posh, place I worked, than anything else. Most of it went with Tonic.
Next came dry sherry then whisky.
We had NO beer on draft, which actooly was a bit of a shame. (1972/3)
 
Have to agree, I hate Gin and Tonic with a passion.... awful stuff.
A shame but there you go!
I love it as does the wife, and thousands maybe even millions of people, in fact round the world it must be millions.
Even young people who generally have a sweeter tooth manage to enjoy it.
Doesn't matter though. "other alcoholic beverages are available".
(Like Prosecco and Sweet Cider.. YUK!!!)
 
My missus has a big collection of fine gins..... The only thing in our alcohol store I just cant touch. I do like a sloe or damson gin, but neat, the juniper is just overpowering.

Tis all personal taste.
I can't stand kidney, liver, game etc. Can just about cope with pheasant and vebison sometimes.;)
