D danandout New Member Feb 11, 2013 #1 Complete newbie, brought a 1980 series 3 diesel ex mod 109 at the weekend, has oil leak as they all do, just wanted to know how to tell which engine it is for replacement parts? First of many dumb questions I'm sure! Thanks in advance!

johnny curt 1 Well-Known Member Feb 11, 2013 #3 take a photo of the side of the engine where it meets the sump behind the exhaust and the starter motor then post it on here we will be able to tell if it has a cross-hatched pattern in the engine block casting on the sump flange if its crosshatched its a 5MB if its just plain its a 3MB
