I didn't want a rubber duck . I want my original telescope aerial on the wing to give my stereo a DAB so I've bought an adaptor that needs powert. I don't want it to drain my battery, just use power when the stereo is on. I don't know if my pioneer stereo has a switched output. Can anyone see a switch live here?

Hi

Easiest way is to use a multimeter to find ur switched live :D

At least then u know 100% it’s the correct wire , never trust a colour , lol

The green to the rear wash/wipe switch should be ignition switched live. Don’t know about stereo feeds

Did you buy the multi meter advised a few months ago?

You may need it if you have much wiring like that:(
A small kit with some terminals and crimp pliers is needed here me thinks.:D:eek:

As for your original question. No I can’t see 1 sorry:rolleyes:

Bought a crimped and micro dog tunnel things. I bought a good meter when you suggested. I don't know how to use it to find a switch wire though?

Did you read this?

Set your meter to the correct setting for measuring volts.

Black lead to the metal body and then probe some wires with the red lead.
With ignition on When you find turn ignition off and see if it is still there.
As suggested you may find 1 on the back of the wiper switch. Also in the fuse box you will find 1.
Is your radio powered all the time? Some are wired with ignition on only as well.

Good luck:)

Brill. Cheers.

If your radio/stereo/disco system only comes on after you switch the ignition on then it is an after ignition live and you can use that feed. Just a thought - can you use the existing radio live feed anyway? if you have to turn the stereo off after you've turned the ignition off it's only 1 extra thing to do.
Fairly easy to do even with very little electrical know how - cut the existing feed wire, use a piggy back connector on the incoming supply and a spade connector on each of the feeds to the radio and DAB module.

Cheers for that. Gonna tackle it this week.

Mackers, this is what I did. The wires to your dash will or should have bullet connectors on the end. I cannot remember the wire colours but you can switch live etc to ascertain which of the wires are permanent or switched live. In my case I just crimped on new yellow male bullet connectors and rammed them home, bingo.

Lucas wiring, main wire colour:
Brown Live all the time, un-fused
Purple Live all the time, fused
White Live with ignition on, un-fused
Green Live with ignition on, fused
I've got a purple wire that goes to my courtesy light. I put the red to it and they work great.
