Afternoon to all the knowledgeable guru's in landyzone.

Just wondering as to how close to the limit is the gearbox on the 4.6.

That is, is there any room for increased performance. Or is it already bordering on fragile?

I thought the HP-24 was pretty robust but didnt think you could do much tuning with the Thor?

Well apart from going stupid and sticking turbos on it lol :D:D:D:D

Got the chance of a full top hatted block with crank, pistons, and piper cam. But it's a 4.8 not a 4.6.

Oh that's good to know. :D
Thanks Keith.

Fancy having a go at building it up knowing it will be right from the start. Then rebuilding the original lump and selling it. Might do a gearbox as well:cool::D:D

ummmm..... sounds interesting, would probably go down this route if my liners ever go south. You having problems with yours or just fancy an upgrade?

The transmission will cope no problem - if you're a Thor engine the Bosch motronic might not like the cam very much, the Thor FI system is very sensitive to increased cam overlap upsetting inlet pulses which causes fuelling glitches.

Just something I fancy having a go at. Managed to find 1 that obviously has all 8 top hats done.

Yes Steve, thor engine, 51 plate. The cams not too excessive. Just a bit more low end torque. Nothing boy racer.

Not got the time right now. Start my new job Monday. This is going to be an ongoing project. Bit at a time and as new as possible. I know the engine will be worth more than the car, but I know it will have a good engine for years to come
