I am looking to buy a Land Rover Defender 90! I have seen a J reg (1992) Hard top and the listing on autotrader says its a 2.5 tdi.

So, Is this the 2.5tdi?
or the 200tdi?

I'm not sure which one it is and I don't really want to buy a 2.5TDI.

Also, I'm pretty sure 2.5TDI were in Ninetys but as its a 1992 it would be a defender?

Hope someone can clear this up for me! Thanks!

It should be a 200tdi, which is the 2.5tdi and yes it is a defender
Sounds like your on about the 2.5 td which was in 90s before 1990, if it's after 1990 it's a 200tdi!

Cheers mate! I hope it is! I'm gonna look at it this weekend. Just hope it's not a 2.5tdi as i heard they made the ninety engines during the crossover to the defender!

Will let you know how I get on!

The only 2.5 Tdi engines are the 200Tdi and 300Tdi. The engine prior to these was the 2.5 TD, often called the 19J. The i refers to the intercooler, which is fitted to the 200Tdi and 300Tdi, but not the 2.5 TD.

You dont want a tdi??

You do. The td was slow as hell. Look at the rad if it has two sections to it tdi if one td

No it isn't. How many deependers have had the injun swapped. It may only show you what was in it originally.

If ya google 200tdi it will give you some piccys, then do the same for 19j ( old ****ty engine) then you will know what you are looking at
