They are not built for speed but a V8 disco can go quite fast without any problems.
Blanking off the egr may make the engine more responsive but you will still slow down so soon as your disco sees a hill.
You need to ingrease the power output of the engine so it would be better to speak a diesel engine tuner to get the best advise for your engine.

awsome. thanks a lot guys i only travel five , six miles to work but its mostly uphill there and its slow as fook. its ok as soon as i get on lanes as then i go as slow as i want but on road its so slow have to really throttle it to get anywhere . i had a read of the thread and ill have to do it. i could have bought a v8 but the mpg put me off.

Stick a bigger inter cooler in it and adjust the pump to suit. It will give you more grunt and certainly manage thos steep hills a little better than a standard set up!
