I am looking to get a series style badge for my dad's defender 90. I want to get it engraved with the vehicles number like some of the series models have. I don't know how to find it and cant find any information online. Does anyone know how to find this?.

Use the VIN and that will tell you the model and year of manufacture, from there you will need to look up how many of that particular model was made that year, and where your VIN digits come in the list.

Hello
Thanks I worked out she is 1988. There were 22,229 90s/110s built in that year. What do the last 6 vin numbers stand for are they from the start of the year or from a certain number like 100,000?.

;) so not a Defender then. Nor is it a Series badge. ;) ;) :D

If you pay. The Motor Heritage museum at Gaydon can provide you with a wealth of details on the vehicle. Think it’s £40 or 60. Details on their website on how to apply.

I doubt you’ll find an exact production number. Because it probably isn’t recorded anywhere. If you think about it. Was does production number actually mean? Ie lots of different things depending on your definition.

I know that it's not really a defender as back when it was built it was just called the land rover 90. I was just going to get the vehicle number e.g the 40,000th defender built, on a cast badge like the series and special editions had. I'm just going to get the name put on it as I've been looking for numbers but it seems very hard to get an exact figure. Thanks anyway

IIRC in the 90's for a while LR stopped designating sequential serial numbers for each of the marques, and issued them in random order between 90's, 110's, Disco's and Rangies, which screwed up people trying to find which number came in which order from which production line.
Sorry if this doesn't help.
