Hi guys. I've searched but not found an answer.

I have a 2001 4.6. Its developed an hot start issue. drives great no problems. turn it off then it wont restart until it has cooled down.
any ideas. ??

Would fuel pump be the issue, as it runs ok from cold with no issues. ??

Possibly. If pump is worn and a bit loose then might be looser still when hot and not have as much pressure. Not sure how much difference that would make to a petrol though.

The coolant sensor sits behind the air con compressor at the front of the valley gasket, but your problem sounds like the CPS, the one above the bottom pulley, normally hard to start when hot is a sign that the sensor is giving up the ghost.

After a bit more googleing . Crank position sensor seams to be at the rear of the engine near the gearbox. Is this the 1 I should be changing. ?? I can wield a spanner if I know what I should be taking off and replacing.

Don't know exactly on the V8 but it will be at the back of the engine poking i to the flywheel. If it's like the diesel, don't remove the mount or you will be in a world of pain.
Personally, I would get a can of freezer and spray the sensor when to car is hot and won't start and see if it then starts. Or diagnostics.

Just got off the ferry from iceland and had a couple of problem there likr the bolt holding the transfer case on sheared and it nearly fell off so got that sorted and did another 7000 miles and the sharp lava roads Fu### 2 tyres and they wanted 250 quid each so got a second hand one for 40 quid which got ub back to germany where I got 2 mtchekin lattitude cross for 370 euros for 2.
On the last day in nIceland the starter refused to turn over but after a bit of cursing and jiggling it started and got me to the ferry .but nearly refused to start when getting of the ferry so I replaced the starter motor in germany as well asnother 400 euros,
Got to poland today and went to Gadansk for the afternoon but when I started it there was a loud bang and rattle so stopped the engine and looked under the bonnet and the belt tensioner bracket had broken so now I got to find anoyher one here .
