Hi their, i have a td5 disco 52 plate, over the last week or so it has started saying it is getting over heated on the gauge, it goes just before the red and then drops to the bottom and the red light comes on? on the temp gauge, if i switch it off and back on straight away it goes back to normal temp and will go on maybe all day or maybe do it again in a mile or so?, just as the temp rises it will have a slight spluttering feeling. but the truck does not seem to be hot. it has water in it with anti freeze/coolant.
Also now and again especially if i was to pull away a bit faster than normal on a bad junction say, the throttle will stick open
any ideas?
big thanks

Hi Bromsgrove Defender, ermm red ecu plug is a bit to advanced for me i'm a bit simple when it comes to anything to advanced, lol. not even sure where the ECU is on it. The red light that comes on is the one on the temp gauge on the dash opposite to the fuel one. it does not even reach the red section just rises 3/4 the truck will splutter a bit, slightly feels like it has lost power then clears and temp drops back down to normal within minutes but it will do it as quick as 1/2 mile up the road, to maybe 60 odd miles up the road?

Red plug is the 'red plug' fitted into the ECU. Remove this, un clips very easily. Check for oil, if their is oil clean it with brake cleaner and replace.
