Hi all, i have a 2000 Disco 2 TD5 and have a problem with the climate control. Esentially when your driving along there is no problem i seem to have the full range of tempreture with both aircon on and in economy mode. BUT, when i come to as stop and the engine is ticking over, it starts to blow cold air into the cabin !!! ... once moveing again warm air returns.

Could anyone direct to the cause and cure for this problem

Cheers

Geoff

you could be low on coolant/ have air in the system, does your temperature gage behave normally?

Thanks RGT

i will check coolant, but thinks its OK. The temp guage behaves 100% does not flicker from where it should be.

Just a theory but, if your thermostat is staying open to long, you may not notice this on your temperature gauge as its summer - and the gauge does seem quite slow to react. If the engine is running a tadd too cool due to a faulty stat, at idle, any heat will soon be removed from the system, once on the move, engine is working harder so produces heat.

since you think your coolant level is fine I was wondering if newer cars had vacuum actuated climate control systems, perhaps if so and you had a vacuum leak, or weak pump, when you are sitting at idle with your foot on the brake there is not enough vacuum to keep the climate control system in its set mode. just a thought....

Hi All

i drained coolant today [just for the hell of it] and its seems to have cured the problem !!!!... it was a bit low in the header tank. There does not seem to be any leaks and i also swithed off climate control and zeroed both controls. So it either the coolant refill or re booting the climate controls, who knows but all appears OK now

Cheers guys
