Can anyone tell me if their Alternator gets too hot to touch after a couple of miles driving??

I fitted a replacement recently and hot alternator seems wrong to me

Thanks MHM, I don't understand but thanks anyway. Has anyone been for a spin in the Landy and stuck their hand on the alternator to give me a comparison?

right it shouldn't run hot, warm maybe, well it's in the engine bay.
first thing that came to my mind was an electrical overload, looks like the electrical system is drawing more than the alternator can supply.

first thing to check is, is it the right amperage for the car? i would think that this is the problem..

how hot is hot tho ...try and find out the actual temp to hot to tuch in a engine bay might not actually be that hot ....any problems with the battery / chargeing .. ?

Going out in a bit and be back in about an hour.......I'll let you know

New Battery, The alternator is new and sold to me as a 100 amp. Just daylight running (no Lights) and heater fan running the Alternator was too hot to touch so over 60 degrees C after about ten minutes. Just wondering if I should get on to the supplier and complain. Keeps the battery charged OK, Rev counter is waving around a bit, not steady as I think it should be.
