I keep getting igntion key in measge on dash when door is open and from.outside when locking doors the horn also.beeps twice any one have any idea cheers terry

Welcome to the forum.
The ignition barrel is sticking and thinks the key is still in. Give it a blowout and some people like to put a little graphite powder in to lube it ;)

The horn beeping twice could be if audio alarm was turned on. It was on by default in US market. You can switch it on and off, instructions are in owners manual.

:lol: How many people really read there owners manual

Don't switch the audio alarm off - its there to tell you something's wrong.
The little catch in the ignition barrel is stuck open when you remove the key - use some graphite paste to lube it - don't use wd40!
Only just noticed this thread cos I've been busy reading my owners manual:D

I thought a bleep was to tell you something is wrong, the horn beeping was for the yanky market. Unless it is t'other way round. May need to read my OM again.

The horn beeps when you close the doors and lock - meaning miss lock - well my p38 does anyway - and its never been stateside.

The feature was built in so you can turn it on and off. Remember reading about it, but it is probable that in this case it is the warning beep rather than the "I'm locked" beep.

ours does it too, but we know that one of the bonnet locks is faulty, but occasionally we get the ignition key in fault come up and it won't let us lock on the button, we have to lock on the key. Though I've found that if I put the key back in, turn to ignition on, wiggle the steering wheel a little and then take the key out, it seems to clear it

I'm a nerd - and the beeping indicates a mislock i.e. Door left open, bonnet open, tail open or keys in the ignition.

Bix is right, the US market had audible lock switched on and is user selectable using a diagnostic device or similar!
