I want to make my own steering guard as I enjoy making my own stuff and I'm a cheap skate. Just to save the hassle of trial and error, has anyone here made there own steering guard or have any dimensions or drawings of any existing ones they'd like to donate ?
Make a simple cardboard template of the fixing holes, the drivers side uses the two bumper to chasis holes and the lower fixing for the steering knuckle jobbie. The passenger side does the same but uses the lower fixing where there is no steering arm knuckle jobbie... mark them out then measure the distance between and cut up a big flat bit, some have a bend in the middle running length ways. I suggest using thicker than 5mm to avaid bending. Mine is 8mm and never bent Oh and make it deeper if you intend on lifting the vehicle, I've seen several designed for std ride height that when fitted to a lifted vehicle its no use as the steering bars are exposed due to it not being deep enough! Best of luck cheap skate :thumb:
