Hi, anybody made their own side steps , the ones I've seen on eBay look pretty feeble.

Fitted defender steps (the squarer ones) on my S3 - fit into existing floor fixing holes but had to drill a hole in the chassis to support the weight - luckily where the bolt fixing is there is a hole in the chassis to tighten the bolt. Look much better than the half round ones. Like these with e Land Rover logo in the rubber:
