My bonnet rattles (it's a TDi LoL). Not that much of a problem, but very little else rattles after years of chasing them down. A new plastic hinge insert on the drivers side stops the rattle for a few weeks, but then seems to wear just enough to allow the bonnet to rattle again at that hinge. Has anyone come across anything more permanent?

Not got one so can't say really. Have you tried any alternative materials like ACETAL tube?

And the little pillars with rubber feet at the front edge need to be there and adjusted right to prevent movement. Which may be helping wear your hinge bush's.

I removed the spare wheel last year from my bonnet, the thing rattled like beggars tin, especially above 70. Replaces the hinge inserts, a little better, added 2 lengths of sticky back foam along the return edge that sits on/above the wing. Sorted.

Thanks for all the ideas/suggestions. The bushes are a snug fit, but not that tight on the bonnet part of the hinge - after a bit of wear, there's about 1mm of movement. Making one from something else isn't something I'd thought of, but I'll keep my eyes out for something suitable. I think the adjustment at the front is right, any tighter and it's hard to get the bonnet to latch fully. I'd like to keep the original look as much as possible, so I'll have a go at the sticky back foam tonight. Thanks again.

Just to finish this off - a bit of self adhesive foam stuck under the bonnet - presses against the rear bonnet seal - has cured the rattle - thanks again for the suggestions!
