Let's see what voltage he gets at 2000 rpm with his new battery. Could be the battery was so bad it was pulling it all down.

There should be two tests done one at tick over just after start up and one at 2000 RPM with headlamps and blower motors running.

Rob have looked at your profile, you own a 2000 4.6. That should be fitted with a 150 AMP alternator with a 14.5 volt set point. Take the car back to Halfrauds and get them to sort it.

Have looked at Halfrauds alternator stock. Only one they stock for your car retails at £270.00.

I didn't get the alternator from Halfrauds, the garage supplied it.
But I now have the Alphaline battery fitted and I haven't had a problem since, so hoping that's the end of problem....for now.

You still need to check the charging voltage, if it's low the battery will not last long.

I did the test and it's the same with the blower and headlights on or off, 13.4 idling and 13.3 at 2,000 rpm.

It lasted 7 days before losing power. I have a C-Tek battery charger/conditioner that I'm using every 3 days to keep it going til I can get back to the garage that supplied and fitted the alternator.
They're going to refund me the cost of the battery that they supplied and also the alternator if, as suspected, it's fecked.
Plus a free diagnostic check for all the hassle.

Alternator is no good. Should be giving 14.5 volts on your model of car.

Just get a second alternator from Emmotts. only £50 delivered. I did and have not had a problem since I fitted it over a year ago.

You've got 2 alternators fitted? Interesting setup.

I think he's already paid to have a new one fitted but it is duff, hence his issues. Should be on warranty. Although, thinking about it, could a corroded connection somewhere be causing issues?
