I have a 300tdi in bits that someone has filled with rad weld in the past.

300tdihead.jpeg

My query is, the three triangular holes between 1-2 2-3 3-4 pistons. Where do they go in the head? should they be holes or blocked up as its just full of rad weld at present. Looked at loads of images but some have triangular holes in the head and some don't so i'm at a loss

Thanks in advance

I've just checked on the knackered head I've got i outside and it's completely solid but that gasket also fits a 200tdi engine so maybe it's different on that?

just different gasket makes it makes no difference,as said originally gasket fitted a 200tdi before been used on the 300tdi

They are not holes, it should be solid. Its where the aluminium has corroded away due to lack of the correct coolant/coolant mix.
If the holes are deep you should replace the head or get it repaired.
