Out of interest, what's the circular hole in replacement door pillars for? It's not there on the one I'm replacing.

That's because that replacement pillar is really meant for a defender.The hole is for wiring. it will probably still fit okay.

The hole is for the door light switch. Lol no its not the picture took a while to appear

That pillar looks totally different from the ones I have had in the past.

Any pics of what you've had in the past? This one looks to fit ok so far despite having some concessions to fit Defenders too and some differences in the profile there where the wing bolts on. It's sold as suitable for "Series and Defender" by Bearmach:

Sorry no pics was awhile ago since I did one, I just thought the recesses for the spire nuts that hold the wings look a bit deep.

They do look deep don't they. I'lll see how it goes. Hopefully the worst case will be some spacers or washers on the wing bolt before it enters the clip on the door pillar. All new to me and learning a lot already.
