I thought about this but just to make sure do you mean these?

That looks easy.

We have undone the breather pipe by the transfer box cable. Where is the second one and the oil temperature connector? Thanks for all the help.

Manual. Td5 LT230. Having no luck separating bellhousing from engine. Any tricks to help ease it out? The engine is now supported by an engine support beam.

first recheck all bolts are out ,is engine supported at the rear , raise box as high as poss then let it go repeat till you can get a long lever bar in ,they generally need levering back
ps you have supported engine by a beam but a jack underneath would help better

We have taken out eight main bolts and a little one facing the other way on the faceplate. The engine is supported at the front. I will go and try that. Thanks.

The top 2 bolts between engine and bell housing also fix the cooler pipe coming from the oil cooler behind the engine block. I had to bend them up a bit to be able to remove the gearbox, was even more difficult to put it back:mad:

The gearbox has parted company with from the engine but it is catching on the clutch cover plate. the gearstick is close to the floorpan. Must have the angles wrong.

Some pictures of where we are at.

Now the bad weather has broken, I have got the new clutch fitted. i have done away with the straps and fastened a chain to a bolt on the gear box. Does the front of the engine need to be lifted? By lifting it there seems more of a gap at the bottom of the bellhousing. It is around the right height but a good six inches from the engine.

i support the rear of engine as level as possible but leaving clearance between bell housing and bulkhead, when its aligned it will push up by hand dont force it,put it in gear and in diff lock so rotating a out put flange will turn box splines to align with clutch

That's the problem we have now is that when we rotate the output shaft there is no movement at the splines. If I turn the splines the out put shafts turn till I put my hand on one. There is linkage but not solid linkage. I hope I am missing something obvious here. I don't think it has diff lock. Not linked up anyway. It is 2003. Thanks.

of course no diff lock its a d2 ,adjust hand brake up till it locks

That's great. Turning nicely now. I am now cold and wet. Going to get back to it tomorrow and hope for better weather. Thanks ever so much.
