Currently stuck on Exmoor in a Defender with a broken headlight switch and no headlights.
I’d say this never happened in my Freelander, but it actually has happened in my Freelander.
I must have some powerful EM discharge from my fingers that breaks switches. It’s the only logical conclusion...

The contacts go all green inside the switch stopping them working and can be cleaned quite easily.

l've had this happen. l now keep a spare switch in the vehicle, as there is no warning of the switch about to fail.

Are there any better quality after market ones out there?
All the ones I can see look fairly cheap (for a LR part) so I'm not convinced they'll be top notch.

Have you looked at the contacts?
I fitted a Lucas, which was cheap enough ,last year. Looked identical to the old one which I didn't need to replace once I saw it was just greeny but it's a spare now I guess.

No not yet, but whatever happens it would be good to have a spare.
Was thinking of getting a Lucas one; very slightly more expensive but better reviews.

John Craddock sent a wiper switch. And of course they're only answering the phone until 1pm.
