Ive got these door hinges on my series 3, would I be able to mount mirror arms on them? Was thinking about the britax arm as I have the heads already....thanks, John 33CABC00-2D69-4A74-B08F-EC22D440F9D6.jpegFC2C3FFC-423D-4305-9BF2-28B1176CDF31.jpeg
 
They do not look like standard hinges and do not have the mounting holes for the Mirror arms. Your easiest bet to fit the mirror arms is to get a replacement set of hinges either new or Second hand. You would then have standard hinges and mounting holes for the mirror arms.
As an aside they look like they are held onto the door with wood screws!
 
Thanks guys, I dont know what to make of the hinges myself, Its a mystery, although I got it in Tenerife where they are notorious for bodging things. ......
 
You may need the captive nuts for the bulkhead. The hinges, nuts, bolts are easy to get but those hinge brackets are a pain. They happily sell the mirrors without pointing out that unless you have the bracket you cant fit them.

If you get sereis 3, or early defender hinges you don't even need the brackets as the top hinges are drilled to accept a mirror arm and you just bolt it directly to the hinge.

I agree with the above, if you go down this route it looke like you would need a bolt kit including the captive backing nuts for the bulkhead, they are available in stainless and I would very strongly recommend these over standard.
 
Thanks guys, yes, they are in fact Santana hinges, my truck spent most of its life on a banana farm on Tenerife....think will look for the replacement hinges as the present ones have seen better days.
Alternators just stopped working, this very afternoon. Took it out, looks like the original Lucas 16 ACR.....one thing after another
 
Ah, might give that a go. Only problem is moving house now, so might stick a new alt in and refurb the old one......

True, but beware of the head of the screws.

On the 'proper' deep hinge (that @dag019 posted and the parts catalogue diagram), you'll notice there's a cutaway between the hinge pin and the mounting holes. The head of the mirror screws will fit in that recess. Your hinges are a lot flatter, and I'm not sure you're going to have space for the screw heads. Maybe if you try to countersink them it'll work, but I would guess the recommended screws (79310) won't fit.
 
Ah yes, in fact am just in from looking at the patient, and I do agree, my hinges are very flat indeed, I think too thin. Might have to be replacements after all! Oh well.....
 
Thats the kind of thing I was thinking of. The doors close quite well, so am not that keen on new hinges, although the mirror situation is driving me mad, I use a lot of single track roads with a trailer, so good wingys are a must !

Weld a couple of tractor stalks on em. ;)
