Landrover defender 90 stolen. Undercoat grey with large wheels (2" lift)
G596 OBU.
Black mudguards, bumper rails and rock sliders. Dog crate in rear.
Stolen last night between 8pm 22nd - 6am 23rd October.
Only picked up Saturday before after waiting 10 years for right time in life to get one. Absolutely gutted and would like nothing more than for someone to say its been found abandoned as wasn't much fuel in and lots of local dirt tracks.
I know its a long shot but contact me on here if sighted please, much appreciated.
Neil

Gutted for you!

Far too close to home for my liking too, I will tell people local to keep an eye open.
Have you posted on LandyWatch - Keeping an eye on your Land Rover

You say that you only just bought it, where did you get it from? What was the situation in which it was stolen? was it previously owned locally? Could the previous owner have kept keys and taken it??

Hi accywingy
Bought it from dealer in warrington. Previous owner was also over that way, picked up last saturday. Have two original landrover keys but know locks not the best on landys.
It was taken sometime at night/early morning and no smashed glass. Had isolated battery with separate key and had steering lock as temporary measure till this weekend when I was going to get something proper...lesson learnt there.
A mud track near us at old Hindley pit works had fresh tyre marks and mud on road this morning and I had drive round track entrances in wifes car this morning just on off chance but was too dark to see down any.

Keep looking and get it on Landywatch
As I said I will spread the word locally too. If you don't get it back I do hope that you replace it with another after waiting so long.

Cheers both of you just wish it had been friday night so at least could spend day scouring local tracks...spoke to neighbour and think they heard what sounded like a tractor starting up at 1am so sounds like they did drive it away and with not much fuel in hoping its been just been abandoned somewhere but prob in pieces now

no probs, lets hope it is recoverable and you get it back in one piece, maybe get a tracker fitted on the next one?

Already discussed today, if get back or have to replace first stop is full alarm and tracker...just a shame cant fit the blades and flame throwers like the south africans were doing couple of years ago!

yes it is a shame,electric shock door handles etc,would be a start.:D

Definitely the right attitude, get some security on it ASAP, these things are going like hot cakes.
If you do have to buy new try asking around here first. Lots of people with lots of contacts that may just know of a good one going in your price range.

Hope you get it back!! I got mine back the first time it got stolen, so don't give up hope!!!

I have had vehicles stolen and damaged in the past! The Bastards are never caught! I really feel for you! When I drive my treasured series and have to leave her for any length of time I remove the Steering wheel and take it with me. Hope she turns up regards. Chris

Hope fading quick Rosie as wAlked local tracks today in hope but no luck

:( my old one was stolen by an organised car theft ring, it was found the next day but took 3 months to get it back. Got it kitted out with pedal plates etc, then it got lifted onto a truck when it was parked in newcastle city centre one night and it's never been seen again :(

What have your insurance company said? or do you have to wait 30 days to see if it turns up?:(:(:(

wells that first weekend and no sign so not going to hang around mourning. A neighbour who is "in the know" regards local scrappies etc has put word out but soon as I get V5 and insurance form will be sending off or will miss boat to get a replacement before rising prices get to silly levels.
So far insurance seem to be ok but waiting to send back documentation before knowing if they raise any issues or time delay.

I was the previous owner of this Landy ! sold it about this time last year to a dealer. It looks in a lot better nick than the last time I saw it.
Sorry to hear its been pinched, i'll keep my eyes peeled.

lewrew90, was going to ask if any past owners on here to let me know any mods they made but bit redundant now. There has been no sightings and have sent off all stuff to insurance now, minus the V5 as still waiting on that, so just waiting to hear back before starting search for a replacement...with full alarm and immobiliser this time!!! Plus some motorcycle lock chain round wheel and whatever else I can think of.

It did have an immobiliser on it when I had it, although you could unlock the doors with anything that would fit in the lock.

Shame to think its in the hands of those thieving so and so's now !
