Me, Hext and a couple of others spent Saturday out around Hindhead and Peterfield. Guy bravely took his standard P38 with road tyres down some pretty scratchy lanes. I was well impressed.

Here some pics

Some dickheads really didn't want us using this Byway

He didn't get stuck. There were a couple of places where he had to back up and have another go due to the sidesteps but nothing impassable.
I thing he really enjoyed it so we might see him out again. How's the RAV?

He did well then! Think my exhaust system might be a bit bolloxed (major dents and flat bits most of the way along it), or I might have blown the head gasket on the way back from Whaddon when I last offroaded. Kris says it sounds like it's not firing on all cylinders.

Love the photo of the Wooly Mamoth (or whatever is was), absolutely classic.

So did those people who parked in the road give you stick. What was the story there ?

I think it was intentional bad parking because further up the track was a hand written sign warning stoopid sat nav users that it was unsuitable for motor vehicles

The P38 is owned by a chap called Guy from Hants who I don't think is on here yet.

By law you can clear a blocked lane, so if tossers park in the middle of the road surely you are entitled to flip there car into the bush... and if no one sees you tip a car into the bushes, then did it really happen :D

Yep as above the law allows you to ease an abatement. (Clear an obstruction) if the public highway is blocked. I'm sure a rope round the rear strut of the red car and a sharp tug backwards would have done the job.

... or simply push them so far into the track that they need recovering. You wait at the car park area professing no knowledge of what happened, but then offer a tug out for £50 ... clears the lane, gets you the cost of a fill-up (heh!!) and everyone's happy.

;)

that definatly would have worked but we all got through, all exceptional drivers off course! :D

Yes I am!!

Hext, what happened to the videos? I thought you were going to put them up somewhere?

The P38 coped absolutely fine... I was quite impressed with it. The side steps were the only slight issue and only on really deep ruts and a log, but they at least protect the bottoms of the doors so I'll leave them on.

Up for the next outing!!

well it's dean's camera, i'll have to ask him nicely if he can upload it or lend the tape to me...

have you got any extras planned for the p38?

Looks good guys - if anyone is going again, I'd be keen to tag along as I live in Hindhead and have only been a couple of the lanes on my mountain bike - never in the Landy.
I figured that it's never a good idea to go off roading alone just in case something did happen.

Cool - quite keen to see some of what you two were shooting!

Extras? I'm still trying to keep on top of the repairs!!

There doesn't seem to be much available for a P38. I did find a steering guard that looks like it will do the jobl, but I'm not sure if there are any still available. Because of the lack of off the shelf stuff, this bloke had actually commissioned some to be made.

It doesn't need any extras though, it's fine!!
