Hi,
i have a freelander 1.8 2002yr
My yellow hill desent light with the exclamation mark on will illuminate after i have driven 30 foot or so. if i stop and turn the car off it will stay off. Sometimes it will come back on several miles later, but mostly stays off untill vehicle has been stopped for an hour or so and then restarted. I have changed the brake switch, still no good.

Any sugestions please.

thanks

Make sure the throttle cable had 11mm of free play. This is to ensure the pedal sensor doesn't throw a code.

Strajght question.

Why 11 mm? Is there a particular reason or 'just because'?

 :)

The the throttle pedal needs to have sufficient free play to avoid ABS ECU detecting the pedal at rest, while simultaneously detecting a throttle angle via the throttle pot. It's a hall effect sensor iirc so some clearance is needed for this.
11 mm is halfway between 10 mm and 12 mm listed as the nessasary pedal free play.

Hi,
thanks for the replies.

I am pretty sure mine doesnt have a throttle sensor, there is a hole for one next to the brake light switch but no sensor.

I will take a closer look after work.

Thanks again

Clive

just checked the sensor, it was tight on the pedal with only a little bit of movement. I have adjusted and will post the results in a few days.

Thanks for the help
