when i engaged hill descent before and went down a slope it wouldnt work,all the hill descent lights work and a slight noise from the abs but no braking effect has anyone else experienced this,thanks

What do you mean by all the lights working? The only one on should be the green one and you will get the buzzing as the abs catches the wheels as they lose traction. Any more lights than that on then there is a fault. How old is the car? The other option is that your tyres aren't gripping at all so the HDC doesn't think it needs to work!

That explains why HDC can sometimes prove to be a hindrance.

I am forever chasing around changing sensors, etc when the three lights come on.

If you're not sure if your HDC is working, just stick one of these in the back.

there is a sensor for hill decent beside hand brake under cubby box it detects angle of car ,if you touch pedals while using it you over ride it

all the lights come on with the ignition then go out as normal apart from the abs that goes off after i reach a certain speed,when i put hdc on the geen hdc light comes on and i can hear the noise you mentioned and the brakes lights are activated ,its almost as if everything is ok apart from the fact that it wont apply the brakes,the tyres are good and a matching set of 4,and ive been on some big hills ,just been out in my mates and his works great

Sounds like it is working ok. Maybe it is so efficient it's making you think otherwise. Is it holding the car back at all or just rolling on? It should feel like it's stuttering down the hill, kind of like (apologies for what's coming but)..Two Alzheimers patients doing a conga!

Not possible really. The system feels so abrupt that it's hard not to notice it when it's working. Whenever I use it, I've have to explain what it is (to people in my car) and how we're not gonna crash.

Needs plugged in to see what the problem is. Anything from a sensor to the gear stick switch.

is it worth me pluging it in as the mil light isnt on
only if you want to find out whats happening, the mil light is now't to do with it.

plugged it in but couldnt find any faults it tested the abs but couldt test the hdc

hi guys,just had to say, early this week wasnt sure if my hdc was working or not.so while going down a snow compacted frozen 1 in 4 hill, with the hdc engaged i gave the throttle a blip.the brakes instantly grabbed on to reduce the speed.think that was my answer, hope it helps someone. tim. ps merry xmas every one
