Battery will last for better than a year if you don't use it.

I bought an led lenser and some rechargeable batteries it Was the three cell version and I was gobsmacked it was better than the headlights on my first car, so impressed I bought the 4 cell one, but I think the first one is still the best.

LEd Lenser P5R is a good little rechargeable torch, I had one and lost it and have struggled to find anything that matches it. Not the brightest nor the longest lasting but it is practical, fits in a pocket or clips on a belt (about the same size as a leatherman) https://www.ledlenser.com/uk/flashlights/p5r2/
I replaced it with a Nitecore MH25, very good torch, good throw, good beam, several modes. Bigger than the P5, but it is a better torch. Rechargeable.

Simple USB charging system, same cable that charges phones, GPSs, E readers ect so practical in that sense. I have had it several years and the battery is still good, its a standard sized battery so can be replaced quite cheaply.
If your not looking for something compact that will fit in your pocket I would recommend the Nitecore.

Search ebay for Ultrafire, basically Chinese clones of Surefire. Can get them extremely bright, the majority run off CR123a batteries (best bought in bulk off ebay) you can get rechargeable ones but in my experience they are not fantastic, they give slightly more voltage but they don't last as long.
I have personally used Ultrafire for 6 or so years, all of them have been fantastic to be honest and at sub £20 you can't really go wrong.

I use an ultrafire t6 cree led flashlight. They are available with 1 or 2 x 18650 batteries. A smart charger is required. The batteries are cheap so I charge a spare pair when needed. Not the best battieres, but rechargeable. Beware of Chinese copy batteries and non smart chargers. I use a couple of head torches on nights, I have a chinese version using 18650 and a lighthouse branded version that uses 4 x aa batteries. It outlasts the 18650 batteries several times over.
The t6 has a focusable beam that will spit out to 80m.
T20 t38 t50 and t67 available. I use an infra red t67 for shooting. It will spot out to around 250m but drain its 2 x 18650 batteries quicker than a t6
All the above torches are available in different colours and infra red. Don't buy an IR version by mistake.
Cree now make a new gen brighter led called COB
